Māmā Ora Matters is a nurturing programme designed to support pregnant and postpartum mothers from former refugee, migrant, and other minority backgrounds. Grounded in the values of Te Ao Māori, these workshops offer a welcoming space to heal, learn, and connect.
Over six months, participants will meet fortnightly to explore maternal wellbeing, share traditional knowledge, and build meaningful connections. Each session is guided by a vision of community, belonging (whakawhanaungatanga), and accessible care.
Our focus is to:
• Strengthen maternal mental health and emotional wellbeing
• Ensure mothers feel supported and connected in Aotearoa
• Make healthcare more accessible and culturally safe
• Honour and share indigenous and cultural wellbeing practices
