can showcase and sell your work. You’re welcome to exhibit a new piece
or use something you’ve already created. Over the next few weeks,
we’ll be here to help you prepare your artwork for display.

HOW² RIMA Māmā Ora Matters

Facilitated by
Erena Thompson, Indigenous Practitioner at Māmā Ora Matters
and Huda Alkaff, Programme Lead at HOW².

Focus:

Empowering pregnant and postpartum mothers from former refugee and minority migrant backgrounds, while being inclusive of mothers from other minority communities.

Vision:

To host fortnightly workshops over 6 months, creating a safe space for mothers to heal, learn, and connect through Te Ao Māori values.

Mission:

  • Support maternal mental health, ensuring mothers know they are not alone in Aotearoa.
  • Make health care and wellbeing accessible and welcoming for these communities.
  • Celebrate and share traditional wellbeing knowledge to foster belonging and connection (whakawhanaungatanga).

A part of the HOW² Aged to Perfection Series. Sewing and knitting bring joy, creativity, and can improve the overall health of our elderly community. Making a scarf, quilt, or pillow helps both mind and body while building confidence in using a sewing machine. Feel free to bring your own fabric or use ours. Experience with using a sewing machine is preferred.
