ChangeMakers Resettlement Forum

Driving for Inclusion

The Driving for Inclusion programme at ChangeMakers Resettlement Forum supports people from refugee backgrounds to gain their driver’s licence. This increases independence, access to employment, and participation in the community. The programme is part of ChangeMakers’ wider mission to promote equity, inclusion, and empowerment for people from refugee backgrounds in Aotearoa.

ChangeMakers Resettlement Forum is a refugee-led organisation that works alongside communities to remove barriers and create opportunities for people from refugee backgrounds. Through advocacy, community development, and research, it addresses issues identified by the communities themselves and ensures their voices are heard in decision making. By working directly with government agencies, service providers, and local organisations, ChangeMakers helps shape policies and practices that support positive settlement outcomes.

At the heart of its work is the belief that people from refugee backgrounds should have the same opportunities to thrive as any other New Zealander. ChangeMakers fosters leadership within these communities, builds connections across cultures, and creates programmes that strengthen skills, confidence, and wellbeing. Whether through initiatives like Driving for Inclusion, support hubs, or family-focused resources, the organisation’s efforts are guided by the goal of building an inclusive Aotearoa where diversity is valued and all communities can participate fully.
